Converting SVG -> PNG with transparent backgrounds

Now, the fill option is described here (same page, different
anchor):

And four digits, as in #0000 it says is interpreted as
#RGBA, so it should 
be exactly the same as -background none.

Actually, now I look at it, #0000 should work if I just
quote the colour - 
the shell must have been doing something with the hash.

Actually it is interperted as black! And not
'fully-transparent black'
