transparent images

hello,
Thanks for your reply but by transparent circles I meant
circles with some
colour filled in such that the background is still visible
but with a tinge
of the colour in the circle.

I would be thankful to you if you could suggest some means
to draw such
circles.

Then use a semi-transparent color and overlay that!
