transparency issue with PNGs

I'm creating a simple text image output to a png:

-background none
-font Arial
-fill #000000
-pointsize 100
label:test
outtest.png

this works fine except that IE doesn't like the transparency
in this
PNG.  It's fine with all my other PNGs (I'm using the alpha
transparency
IE hack), but this one ALWAYS shows up as a black square, or
at least
the background does.  The text shows up whatever color it's
supposed to.

I opened the generated png in photoshop and the transparency
looks fine.
IE just doesn't like it.

Any ideas as to what's going on and how to fix it?
