import, no border option in newer versions

I used to capture seismogram images
from from windows with the statement:

import -crop 775x420+1+30 -border 2x2 $1

run from a bash script. I do not know the
earlier version number I used for this.

I am now trying to do the same thing with
SuSE9.3, magick6.1.8. I find 6.1.8 import
appears to lack the -border option. It
either takes the 2x2 as the filename instead
of $1, and/or writes two files $1.0, and
$1.1. (eg seismogram.png.0).

I can remove the -border option the statement
works as expected but with no border.

Is my only option to display with border
option after import, then save display?

Thank you for considering this question.
