Evaluating results with ISing

Hello,

I must admit that the last few days just reading the
comments it has
made me think.

I read the statement by one of the members that IS had
caused him to
waste a lot of time.

I think that any practise whereby you are endeavouring to
achieve some
result will involve giving up your time- I love to stay in
shape(well,
at least I try) and so I know that to do this, I can't sit
back and
watch T.V all the time or just do things that I like doing.
I am willing
to give up some time to achieve a result. With IS, I can't
say whether
or not there will be positive results- but I am willing to
give up some
time to try. I love to meditate so I have decided for the
time being
that I will use some of the meditation time for ISing and
"give it a
whirl".

I think that people who expect the magical wand effect are
misguided and
although Jesus Christ appeared to do miracles I don't expect
my ISing to
do the same. I try to keep my feet on the floor. If you want
something
you have to give something.

So, I think, that trying to become more aware of inner
imagery has to be
useful because the images are coming from somewhere other
than the
conscious mind. Like dreams which can sometimes be simply
showing us
something about our behaviour we can't see or sometimes
giving us truly
inspiring messages that easily show us the way. Work is the
key whether
you are doing dream work meditating yoga, whatever the key
is to work at
it and not expect anything for nothing. I am quite
pleasantly surprised
by my personal results in ISing- I feel that some of the
imagery, as
well as entertaining, is quite on the line and potentially
useful. I
have now to work more with the images to derive aha's etc.

I don't think that there are any harmful effects_ if
anything there will
be positive ones. In a more relaxed state the brain is more
able to
function properly and create. Why should we think that there
will be
negative effects? It is the same with meditation, what is
bad about it?
Can you think of anything?

Best regards,

Dean
