  In the height of my journal-keeping days, I simply carried
around
  with me everywhere a small spiral-bound notepad and a
pocket tape
  recorder. In this way, I could draw things or jot them
down, or
  describe them aloud, at any time.

  Others might suggest setting aside time before bed to
journal in
  a more disciplined way. I did something similar when I was
recording
  all of the dreams I could remember ... I'd write them all
into my
  dream journal first thing upon waking. Unfortunately, it
started 
  taking longer and longer to record everything I was
remembering, 
  and when the sessions lasted an hour or so, I had to give
up the
  practice.

  These days, rather than journaling, I only jot down the
ideas and
  insights that are of special interest, otherwise I'd be
spending 
  way too much time every day writing, writing, writing ...
