Giving life to another being isn't what I call a social norm...

But then again, every single word in all human languages are open to
different kinds of interpretation... Yours as valid as any other...

I answered to a question from my point of view, and tried to make
clear, that I don't take this as a attack to my way of life (though I
was sure I would be misunderstood, as I was). Not agreeing with
something doesn't mean that I'm offended by it. Everyone should have
the priviledge of living their life the way they think best, as long
it doesn't harm other people. But the original message asked for
feedback, and mine was like that, no need to get offended.

I also thought once, that living alone is an optimum because you are
responsible only to yourself. That lead to many good things, but also
many stupid things that made me realize that the freedom I was
experiencing was just an illusion. Even when you do not have children
and even when are not not married your actions affect other people
too. Sooner or later it all comes around and you have to face the
consequenses of your actions. Being married and having children does
not change this. So I see no improvement.

I think you're mincing words here. There is much more to parenthood
that simply giving birth, and in our society there is a whole pattern
of life style that goes along with it that is certainly not intrinsic
in the basic biological function. It's not limited to parenthood of
course. These kinds of patterns are insidious in all facets of social
functioning. We tend to assume our cultural patterns are the only way
to do things when in fact there is a whole universe of alternative
ideas out there. Get to know someone indoctrinated in the beliefs of
another culture to catch a glimpse of this.
