Has anyone in this group wondered if the distortion of memory during recollection had
anything to do with the intrusion of imagination? I guess what I'm getting at is: is there a
clear cut boundary between memory and imagination, recollection and conception? Curious.

I've also wondered that. Let's broaden it past 'memory' to the idea
of 'behavior,' including the retrieval of memeories. I'm pretty sure
that we can be trained by our imaginations in a similar way to the way
in which our experiences train us. That may be why stories seen so
much more effective than mere abstract descriptions in the changing of
behavior.

Now, what does that tell us about watching television, participating
in virtual reality or MMORPG games, or engaging in the experience of
other types of stories which are generated by others?

I seem to recall an old proverb that went something like: "In the
making of many books there is no end; and, much devotion to them is
wearisome to the flesh."
