Hi Silk here:In purities that focus on the meanings
behind the apparent reality of life the human being is
often described as an interspace between this world &
the next, between what is manifest & what is hidden,
between what we can & cannot perceive. It is as if we
are "tetering" on the edge, facing this world but
connected to other possible realities as well. The
seen & unseen meetin the locus of our consciousness.

Dreams of course are not the only means of accessing
the subconscious, for not all of us remember our
dreams & not all of our dreams are profoundly
meaningful. While dreams can sometimes provide access
to subtle spiritual awareness there are other ways to
penetrate waking consciousness, for example fasting is
a most useful vehicle for sloughing off the stale
crust that mundane routine deposits on us & to refresh
our awareness of reality. Through this fasting it is
hoped that those who have done so will have
experienced more than hunger & frayed nerves. While
hunger & weakness humble us they strip away the
presumption of our independence to reveal deeper
flowing rivers of consciousness with in us, thereby we
tangibly reconnect to the fact that not everything is
as it tangibly seems. Ultimately it is death that will
reveal the fullness of reality. A wise old scribe was
reported to have said "people are asleep, when they
die they wake up." Death is imbued with the hope of
freedom from the confines of our motality, from its
ignorance & suffering, from relativity & the
confusion surrounding it. The fact that we actively
practice death every night by going to sleep means we
are all programmed to want that ultimate freedom. Once
asleep waking consciousness releases its vise like
hold & yields to the subconscious. In the land of
slumber we transcend the physical & banal limits of
our existence & regular visits to this land reminds us
that though we are in this world we are not entirely
of it. What a paradox; Life is a waking dream but the
sleep of death brings awakening. Even more
paradoxically the wise old scribe said "die before you
die"! What on "earth" could he have meant other than
the death of not the physical but
death of dreams & hopes the senses, so that we
transcend our limited perception of reality. All this
talk of death bringing awakening is not morbid after
all but a positive message to open ourselves to the
sublime reality that we are but a minor pebble on the
beach of a greater reality. Einstein searched for
answers in outer space when in literal fact they are
to be found, if they are, only in inner space.
Anything can be proven if one is willing to rearrange
the facts suit the desired hypothesis. Humans are
very good at this. First come up with an opinion
(that desired) & then conveniently rearrange the facts
to prove & support it & the hell with the truth! Edit
out the negative ( no matter how real) & accentuate
the positive (no matter how false). chao/Silk
