youre better off with the tape recorder, computers will do the exact
opposite of what you want as they have a bit of latency. theres lots
of very cheap guitar pedal equalizers you could run the tape recorder
through to boost the high frequencies

I have used Total Recorder (Standard Edition) for various things. It
is a shareware application that costs $17.95 to register. Prior to
registration it inserts a noise into the recording once every minute.
I like this application. It works well.
