I am looking for an experienced coach to help with my current career choice.

My background is that I have 15 years experience as a physics researcher followed by 3
years as an investment banker. I quit my job last April, and therefore unemployed, and
just about to enroll into fine art and music composition schools, but that is just a default
option for not having had the imagination to come up with something better to do. In the
context of my previous message about determinism (which the coach needs to understand
and relate to), it would make sense to "choose" my life purpose as being in the business of
creating imaginary Universes that appeal to me in some way... for the real Universe is a
pretty boring place to be, ruled by laws that tell you you can't do anything.

I am a very difficult client, almost uncoachable, the kind that is much more concerned
about being right than getting any results. I am also very experienced in many aspects of
coaching, considering being a coach myself, having worked with over a dozen coaches in
the past. I've got an enormous ego: I want to be god, a prophet, and Emperor of the
Universe, and a trillionaire, all at the same time. But again reality comes knocking at the
door: I fractured my cheekbone in a third ice figure skating accident (that's fine now) and
have back problems and had shoulder surgery with difficulty in recovering, so I don't know
if I'll be able to do any serious jazz dancing again :-( I won't be a choreographer then, but
maybe a film producer?? Yes, that's all very flaky. I'm not an artist by nature, I don't have
the sensitivity to light/sound/... that characterises them. I am a Utilitarian: if it's not useful
to me, I drop it. So if you want a challenge, that could be an opportunity for you.

It would be good if the coach is well versed in using image streaming for coaching; a
science or rigorous fine arts background could be helpful too. I relate most to the ideology
of Robert Fritz (about being a Creator), the career books of Nicholas Lore and (less)
Stephen Rosen. I'm no NLP fan despite a lot of training in it.

I'm looking forward to hearing from prospective coaches. If you'd like to tell me a bit how
you could be of help, that'd be great. On a positive end note, I've always benefited (i.e. it's
been useful to me in a utilitarian sense) in some way from each coach I've worked with
before.

In summary, the objective is to figure out what to do with my life (yes, I've read the book
by Po Bronson, it was great). There are lots of ideas, none of which are compelling or
realistic. I don't know what I want, who I am, etc. Looking for guidance, please.

Ophyax,

I don't normally have the time to post here, but your post caught my
attention. First off: Although I am occasionally asked to do coaching
work, I am not interested in taking on new clients - my life
commitments are elsewhere at the moment. So, this is just a friendly
note with a couple of thoughts for you.

>>> In summary, the objective is to figure out what to do with my life
(yes, I've read the book by Po Bronson, it was great). There are lots
of ideas, none of which are compelling or realistic. I don't know what
I want, who I am, etc. Looking for guidance, please.

==================================

I appreciate you being frank and forward about your mindset and
objective. Perhaps it may help you to consider what you are actually
looking for in life. Happiness? Money? Power? Fame? Satisfaction? Sex?
That could be your starting point in exploring what to do going forward.

>>;> I am a very difficult client, almost uncoachable, the kind that is
much more concerned about being right than getting any results.

================================

Well, you're right about both claims in that statement! You are
obviously highly intelligent and talented. However, based on your
e-mail, none of the coaches I know would want you as a client. With
respect, if you are more concerned about being right than getting
results, changing your life isn't really important to you. You seem
keen on finding more evidence that your worldview is correct, and I'm
sure that you've already "proven" it to many others prior to this. I
do not care to argue with your perceptions, but respectfully suggest
you consider this: You have evolved a very powerful and solid model of
life, but it does not appear to have achieved what you want it to. In
fact, some parts of your post seem to scream boredom and quiet
desperation. Are you utilitarian enough to be open to different
approaches and possibilities? It's just a thought, because if not, the
coaches who will agree to coach you are essentially going to be people
who will basically listen to you and help you to further refine a
viewpoint which will get you more of what you have, which you
apparently no longer want.

Also, I do not see what you hope imagestreaming will achieve for you?
It has myriad applications, but it will not tell you what to do with
your life. Velvety smooth breathing is more likely to help you to
start to open up the issues in your life.

Finally, I realise I have been direct to the point of blunt in this
post. My objective is to get the message through in a way less likely
to be missed, so my apologies if I have offended - rest assured that
was not intended. All the best with locating a coach.
