Interpretation of imagestreams -2-

In this post, I will mention the literal interpretations, the easiest
ones to get. To make further progress, I will have to interrogate the
images one by one, by doing short image streams. This will take some
discipline…

Here is a list of images:

IS_10: many literal images straight out of my recent trip to Malaysia

1- Daffodils at Kew Gardens: literal, the lawns are covered
2- "Powers of 10" movie: mentioned by coach Nick. It's about
changing viewpoint and perspective, to look at things in detail or
get the big picture
3- Insect with large wings. Image of wings in great detail: I
saw many large insects in zoos in Malaysia
4- Detail of the insect's leg: thoughts about articulated robots
5- A long and thin cylinder of gold or platinum: read about gold
and commodity prices hitting records
6- Julia set: looked up Julia on wiki, a symbol for chaos or
complexity
7- Nanotube: read recent article on how they assemble
8- An acrobat in Royal Albert Hall, escaping through the roof:
variation of a theme, as the RAH and acrobats often appear in my
imagestreams
9- Waves and surf against the rocks of the shore: scene in
Malaysia
10- Wood cast at sea, covered with mussels: also seen on the beach
11- A pearl: related to diving and looking for pearls inside
oysters
12- A ladder: frequently in my imagestreams, a way of getting
somewhere else
13- A holographic mirror in the shape of Plato's cave: a sign I'm
thinking about understanding how the world works, specifically what
are the fundamental degrees of freedom

IS_11: also mostly about Malaysia

1- A rafflesia, with "chiboukis" inside ("chiboukis"; is a storm
of particles or insects): literal, saw some in Malaysia
2- A dipterocarp tree, with very strong anchorage: literal, saw
lots of such trees in Malaysia
3- A durian fruit: heard about them but haven't really seen them
except in pictures
4- An aircraft passing overhead: lots of aircraft passing
overhead where I live
5- Onions cooking in a large pot: variation on a theme often in
my imagestreams: it's Panoramix' cauldron with the magic potion, in
Asterix stories
6- The act of throwing pure sodium or potassium metal in water,
resulting in an explosion: something I played with in the chemistry
lab 20 years ago
7- 2 strands of a DNA molecule where the strands are not joined
but instead coil at a different pitch, resulting in an
electromagnetic transformer configuration: an invention that clearly
would not work, but still a nice image
8- A Peruvian mule: often appearing in my imagestreams
9- Elementary particles leaving a star, making a solar wind
10- A live nautilus in perfect buoyancy, completely immobile in
suspension in water: saw one at the aquarium in Kuala Lumpur;
symbolizes a very skilled diver
11- A wilted lotus flower, the black seeds having mostly fallen
into the water, the big remains of the flower looking like a shower
head: often appears in my imagestreams
12- A cornucopion of Tom Banks symbolised as a horn: symbolizes
the original thinking of Tom Banks; often features in my imagestreams
13- A crab hiding in its hole on the beach: literal, from Malaysia
14- Fine warm rain, very dense and uniform
15- A genetically engineered carrot that takes like a strawberry
16- A rose
17- A flea dressed as a cowboy, with an oversized shadow
18- A crossed sitting yoga position
19- A cruise ship

IS_12: This imagestream is mostly about Kurzweil's The Singularity
is Near

1- Migrating birds far into the distance
2- A timeline showing competition for resources and when the
universe reaches maximum intelligence
3- A butterfly: possibly from Malaysia, as I saw lots in
butterfly parks
4- Last dinner of Da Vinci, recast as a merging of intelligences
before they separate to colonize distant stars
5- The eyes and peripheral vision
6- A tower by Zaha Hadid: out of research for my art projects
7- Moon and sun side to side
8- The year 2108
9- Tree of knowledge: image to have all of knowledge right in
front of one's eyes
10- A shelf of books, looking very condensed
11- Sensors: platypus, bat, star nose mole: often show up in my
imagestreams, symbolizes working with exquisite specialized senses
12- Sunset with clouds: often in my imagestreams
13- Recycling of known life forms into higher intelligence
14- Brooms to clear space of debris
15- Extended phenotype: human connected to computers, attached as
if to the 6 legs of an insect. The Borg
16- New lifeforms
17- Waves of neutrinos and gravitons
18- A few cubes representing a quantum computer
19- A Dyson sphere and type 3 civilization
20- A cow eating grass
21- Hard pollen grains

IS_13: from here on the image streams are about the career search

1- Euclidean parallel lines, represented as train tracks
2- Gas of O2 and N2 molecules: literal, concerns about role of
nitrogen when diving
3- DNA tetrahedron: image from a recent article in Nature
4- A remora
5- A large brim Mexican hat, green
6- A squirrel, with a rhythmically waving tail

31- A square of wood, drifting at sea

1- Pebbles

4- A pillow: often in my imagestreams; symbolizes comfort
5- A Richmond stone lion, in a royal carriage
6- A fakir nail bed: from my trip to India
7- A shark
8- Cobra position in yoga
9- A computer screen with paper-like quality
10- The detail of the fibres of that paper
11- A vole, in the sewer, followed by its friend (me)
12- Greek amphitheatre, in the shape of a trapeze
13- Backstroke swimming, standing up

literal, recalling a movie scene

2- His helpful vole whispering words
3- A ballerina with large dress
4- The stage floor, showing wear in great detail
5- A gorgeous naked woman jumping in grand ecart en l'air
6- Audience, in the dark
7- The arch of the foot: literal, was concerned I might have
injured my arches, but it's better now
8- A desperado with a large hat and characteristic moustache
9- A medical tool used to remove epithelial cells from the gills
of a flying fish
10- Kayak, and arms at 180 degrees
11- A skyscraper and a Green Giant bean stalk growing quickly.
The leaves are vibrating quickly helping the bean stalk grow faster
12- A salmon just about to die, in its final green red form
13- A corn field, with the vole hiding
14- Spawn of fish
15- A Persian cat sleeping
16- Cobalt in red and blue forms
17- A Lucky Luke character playing an upright piano, with a beer
glass on top: an image for ability to concentrate despite much
distraction
18- Vultures, circling counter-clockwise
19- Vole eating a cheese moon, to leave out a holographic pattern
20- A sarcophagus
21- A karate kid, doing a split: literal, my nephew taking karate
lessons
22- A duck, trailing a net containing a few coconuts, that roll
and drag behind

27- Stone breaker, with road, stones, and a pick axe: this refers
to a painting by Courbet, and may symbolize being realistic or hard
working

from childhod

its connection to the metallic ceiling: literal, when my nephew when
on a bumper car ride
31- Chocolate melting as it captures particle radiation, on
chocolate chip cookies

34- The fingers of a racoon
35- An oversized nose which can be squeezed to sound like a horn
36- Dogbert, Scooby-Doo and Snoopy rolling down a Sisyphus
mountain in a brown jute bag
37- Bananas on a hook
38- Other fruit bowls stacked and hung with chains
39- An ambulance with grey flat sides
40- The grandmother, snake and ladder game described in a

41- Observing the waves coming to the beach, looking parallel to
the beach line

IS_18:

1- Rabbit running: frequent image at the start of my
imagestreams, of having to rush to something (cf Alice in Wonderland)
2- Kangaroo running counter-clockwise around Australia: image of
being on a mission
3- Umbrella
4- Impersonal people raining as in a CD cover for music by Satie
5- A drunkard doing a one-dimensional random walk around a
lamppost: a literal view of a standard description in probability
theory often used in finance
6- Unshaven fellow
7- A speeding experimental bicycle, on a long road to the Grand
Canyon, by a setting sun
8- Rambo, escaping a prison by digging a tunnel: saw movie First
Blood on a bus in Malaysia
9- A coyote howling: often in my imagestreams
10- A Far-Side professor with a large white lab coat: symbol for
the mad scientist
11- A Scrameustache spaceship landing: developed later
12- A whistle, which expands when one blows in it
13- A camp fire with logs around to sit on: literal, a scene from
childhood
14- A tee-pee with door open and three sides
15- A mask from Venice
16- A lasso
17- A chariot
18- A duck: often in my imagestreams
19- A running track: often in my imagestreams
20- Franklin in a heavy raincoat and his thunder experiment: a
frequent occurrence in my imagestreams
21- A helmet
22- Several dishes: meat pie with ketchup, small peas, corn
23- A worm that moves aside the dirt with its head to dig a tunnel
24- A pangolin, eating ants and termites: a symbol for a being
that doesn't have career issues and knows what it's about: eating
ants and termites
25- Midas and gold: often in my imagestreams
26- Diazinon and malathion: symbol of toxic stuff from my
childhood
27- Fleas
28- Radishes
29- A temporary tent for a corporate event, in the rain: literal,
an event I went to with my ex-girlfriend last June
30- The Earth
31- One must eat soup, as in Lucky Luke: an image for duty
32- One must copy a sentence a thousand times for misbehaving: an
image for punishment if not obeying orders
33- A white plate with a number of big hard black nails on it

IS_19

1- A pogo stick, with someone jumping with it
2- A kangaroo on water skis speeding on the waves, joined by a
rabbit
3- Various desserts, set on a plate, in the shape of cubes, one
being durian, one with an almond on top
4- A skinless banana
5- Planet Ocean: an expression I heard recently
6- A puppy
7- A platypus: usually about sensation enhancement
8- A duck, straddling side to side as it walks
9- A serin bird that can see in the ultraviolet: serin might
refer to the physics department at Rutgers where I studied
10- A train at the end of a tunnel
11- Dice, in a glass, for a random throw
12- The Scrameustache, his spacecraft, with a jet of supernuclear
yellow light; the metal of the spacecraft is a deep blue: a symbol of
my ambitions when I was young
13- A large canvas, wanting to be painted: a call for doing
something with my blank canvases
14- Feeling of the paint being applied
15- A high vertical wall of metal, to be climbed
16- A peanut shell, with the peanuts inside, rattling
17- A lounge chair
18- Assembling – a labyrinth, a city that I built in Lego
