Hi everyone,
I thought I'd update you on my health. I just got out of
the hospital from
having a total hysterctomy. All female organs were removed
including both
ovaries. I stayed in the hopital for 5 days and am
recovering at my mom's.
I am swollen and have pain like menstrual cramps but am glad
that I don't
have to worry about cancer going there. My oncologist
suggested it since
the high risk of recurrence and estrogen based. My surgeon
was a
gynecologist/oncologist. Everything went really well and am
hoping for
a fast recovery.
I continue to tell everyone everyday about inflammatory
breast cancer
and what to look for. I can't believe how so many people
still don't
know about it even with all the news. I even told my nurses
in the
hospital.
My hair has grown out a lot and my chest is still dark from
radiation, but
somewhat peeling. I still feel numbness in my chest and
under my arms,
but I just thank God that I'm alive and will be able to
watch my children
grow up.
I continue to be out on sick leave. I was wanting to go
back to work
on Dec. 1, but will probably have to wait until January 8
since I am
a teacher and someone is already teaching my class until
then. I'm
worried about insurance and being on unpaid leave. I'm not
sure if
I can get any help to get by until January abut am still
hoping and
praying for a good holiday. I can't wait until 2007 since
this year
has been so long.
