Hello Everyone,
Thanks to all who responded to my original
"pleurisy" email. I believe I answered each
one.
My family physician thought I would be feeling a lot better
by Sun. afternoon and of course, I wasn't. I called him
yesterday morning to let him know that the chest pains have
not let up and he sent me to have a chest cat scan to check
for blood clots. That was a horrific ordeal, because I have
very small veins that roll and blow, they couldn't get a
stick and ended up giving me the "old timey" cat
scan where I breathed in a mist solution and had a nuclear
med put thru my port and then the two different scans were
compared. Thank goodness, the scans showed no blood clots!
But the scans and tests aren't showing much fluid either.
My family phys. prescribed me a steroid pak, told me to use
more lortab for the pain as needed and is referring me to my
surgeon. They want him to check my port area and see if my
chest pains may be from my port (2nd port placed in Oct.'04
after 1st port caused a blood clot in neck) or from previous
mrm surgery (dbl Jan.'05) and get his opinion.
But they still say I may have pleurisy. My oncologist
(who is 2hrs. away) is following up with each of these
appts. She has ordered more extensive blood work to be done
on Fri. when I have my routine ptinr test done. I've had
this pain in my chest since this past Thurs. evening and
I'm getting very frustrated! I thought I was feeling a
little better this morning but the longer I'm up and the
more I do the worse it gets. Anybody have any other ideas
that I could suggest to my docs? Or should I just wait it
out, see what my surgeon says, see how the blood work comes
back and see if the steroids make me feel any better this
week along with making me swell!!? I know the answer to
this last question, just needed to vent!!
Take care and thanks for your input,
