Hi Susan!

That is wonderful progress! You are doing very well! You can
adopt my Oncologist who would say "you're doing Super!
Keep up the good work!" No new cancer cells mean that
the chemo is preventing it from spreading. Very rarely does
it kill all cancer cells. If you weren't responding to chemo
you would certainly know it by now. I worked as well during
my treatment and everyone was very supportive of me too. My
attitude took some nose dives here and there but got through
the valleys by pure bullheadedness and a lot of support.
This list was a HUGE help for me. There were some close
connections I made and some are no longer with us but their
spirits are still with us. We are here to carry on the torch
and to prove that IBC can be beat!

Enjoy your horses (I love horses). I have four house rabbits
that keep me busy. And your son will definitely keep things
interesting...good thing they check your heart during all of
this! As for sugar feeding cancer, there really is no hard
evidence of it. I'm certain people feel much better removing
sugar from their diets but all food converts to energy,
excess sugar is just stored as fat and fat releases estrogen
which is not good if you're estrogen receptive positive. I'm
still working on cutting back some but during treatment my
Onc doc was adamant about me not losing weight (which I did
because I was nauseous on A/C) so I ate what I could and ice
cream happens to be one of my favorite foods! So hard to
kick that habit but I'm trying to eat healthier and take
vitamins just to have more energy and give my immune system
a fighting chance.

Doing the "happy dance" for you in Ohio and keep
us updated on your treatments. We are your
"sisters" and "brothers" while you are
going through this. There isn't anything we haven't seen or
heard and will cheer you on until you have put this beast
behind you!

Love & Hugs!

Subject: [ibc] Questions for a new listener

I just wanted to tell Rich what an awesome website he has
created, I has been really wonderful to listen to everyone
spread information, comments, and just downright sisterly
love!

I was dx with IBC on 9-29-06, saw my onc. on 10-3-06, portal
put in on 10-4-06 and started chemo on 10-5-06, I have been
told I am at stage IIIB, triple negative, scan showed
cancer had spread to 4 lymph nodes, had not spread to
organs, thank God, he is Good! Well after my 2nd pet scan,
the lymph nodes were clear, report said chemo was responding
excellent and that no new cancer cells, well I thought that
was good, and was excited. When I saw the Dr. he was not
just what you would say "way to go girl". My
attitude is very upbeat and am still working, I have a lot
of positive people who support me at work and I try to live
my life as normal as I have a 15 yr old son who races 4
wheelers on some weekends, to tell you the truth I don't
think I will die from the cancer but from heart attack, we
also have horses, and I attend to them so I stay pretty busy
most of the time, but do get tired after a full day of
going. I have only had 3 chemo treatments to date, next one
is
December 8, I guess I am looking for some positive response
for what I thought was me doing fairly well.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good report or just okay or
normal.

Susan

P.S. Does anyone really know if sugar feeds cancer, I have
been very confused by alot of things I have heard and read
about this subject.
