| Femara - Shoud Have Stayed On It!
(UPDATE) |

Hello All,
I want to thank you for so many suggestions on getting
through the Pet Scan. Dr. Virginia I followed your advice
and took an Ativan. Actually, I took one two hours before
the scan and another one hour before (my onc suggested this
as she told my husband I "must" get through the
scan). It made me feel like I was floating on a cloud and I
actually almost enjoyed it!
The results are: Neck lymph nodes on both sides of neck and
also in chest positive for cancer. Several small liver mets
described as 5 mm in size.
I began my first chemo treatment yesterday. They are giving
me a taxane and I am taking Aromasin. I have pain in my
right arm from shoulder to ring and pinky fingers. I have
lost three pounds since my last visit and my blood pressure
is high (probably from fear).
Anyway, I blame myself for not staying on Femara and for not
going to my oncologist when the pain started way back in
July. I went to my Primary Care Doctor instead and he gave
me anti-inflammatory drugs and physical therapy, which
actually helped. But the pain came back big time in
November and I finally called my Onc (which was 4 months
after I had gone to my Primary Care Doctor). I thought it
was a pulled muscle or lymphedema. So the time I lost
seeing my oncologist allowed the cancer to get to my liver.
Now that's a big price to pay for stupidity! Well, wanted
to get you all up-to-date. Wish me luck on my third fight!
I'm wondering if when my onc said I have several spots on my
liver, if my liver looks like a piece of swiss cheese!
Anyone with mets to liver out there?
Lydia from Ventura, California

So sorry you are back to active chemo Lydia.
My daughter has liver mets, but they are too big to look
like swiss
cheese. 13 and 14 cm about 3 months ago...
Anyone talked to you about radiating the now small liver
mets?

Hi Lydia,
Yes, Ativan is WONDERFUL!! I think that is why they only
prescribe ten of them at a time to me and why I act like
they are gold and only take them when I really need them :
)
I have liver mets and skin mets am on the trial Lapatinib
(Tykerb) and Xeloda. I have only been on it for five days,
but feel it may be working. I had/have three liver mets,
largest one is 1.5 cm. They said "small", but I
think that is pretty big. I will let you know how this
works. Hope your new chemo regime works for you and so
sorry as I am for myself that we have to do this
allllllllllll over again. We are warriors though and will
keep up the fight!
Hugs,
Missy

Lydia
I have had liver mets since diagnosis. The tumors had shrunk
with Taxotere
and Gemzar. Today I had scans again and they are growing
again so I will go
on a differentchemo. I was diagnosed in April, 2995. Good
luck and I will
keep you in my prayers. Indiana Sherry

(UPDATE) |

Hi Sherry,
April 2995....wow...the future.....
1995 with Live mets? And they are now growing again?
My daughter also has liver mets, since dx 3 years ago, and I
wonder
why when the mets have shrunk they are not zapped with
radiotherapy?
I don't see anyone talking about this. But if you go to any
institute that deals with metastatic liver cancer (not just
coming
from the breast, but including the breast) they are doing
many
different things.
Just wondering
