Linda,
I have been recieving Herceptin since May 2003. Seems
off to think it has been coming up to 4 years next May
2007. In fact I am going in to have my port put back
in because my veins in my only stickabake arm have
failed. Not that I am mad about that - those poor
things have been getting stuck since Feb 2003.
My oncologist told me he does not see an end date for
the infusion for me. That I will be looking at it for
many more years to come. He and I both believe it is
keeping the cancer at bay. So as scared as I am to
have my port put back in I am relieved that I will no
longer have to fight with the murses when I tell them
I a hard stick and to go for these veins first.
If you do not have a port anymore than you might
concider getting one again.
I am glad we have the drug on my radar indefinitly -
At the time the beast was rearing its head I was told
I was not going to be around by my ex-onc for more
than the next Christmas - I am happy to say I am not
only celebrating my 4rth Christmas since the stupid
ex-onc told me that but I have been NED since May
2003.
Praying for the best for you.
It is better to light a candle than to curse the
darkness,
