Friends,

In this politically correct society, we are led to believe
that we mustn't
offend anyone. But as someone who has experienced this awful
disease, God
and a person's faith are important. People put faith into
one thing or
another. Those who don't believe in God put their faith in
their doctors.
That's fine. Every time you get on a plane you put your
faith in an unknown
pilot. That's fine. Every time you pick up a prescription
you are putting
your faith in the pharmacist. That's fine. Faith is personal
and I would
never deny an individual going through this beast the right
to express their
faith or belief system.

Four years ago this same issue was going around. If you
don't believe in
God, that is your prerogative but please don't ask those who
do to deny
their faith in their God and Lord so you aren't offended.
Offense can go two
ways.

This list is a valuable information tool for ibc patients.
Four years ago
there was less awareness about ibc than there is today.
Leaps and bounds
have been made in informing the public about this beast.
This list is also a
terrific way to feel connected with others who are going
through the same
thing. In fact, this is the only group that understands
exactly what ibc
patients experience from their fears to their treatment. No
other breast
cancer group gets it because they didn't and don't generally
face the long
term issue and the aggressiveness of this cancer, in fact,
they have TIME to
make decisions. For us it is like getting hit by a Mack
truck. We barely
have time to absorb the blow before we are going through a
battery of tests
and chemo. Then we have to deal with the "survival
rates" and oncologists
who speak in terms of the percentages of treatment success
in each area of
treatment we go through. They don't talk to us in single
digit percentage
recurrence numbers.

I knew what I had before anyone told me. When I finally
officially told.this
list is what kept me from going crazy, particularly Jan,
Mary Anne in
Michigan, and a wonderful lady in MO. Mary Anne let me call
and talk to her.
What a relief. I have since done the same knowing how
important it is to
feel connected and how frightening it is to be told you have
it. Rich has
been the sweetest guy I have ever heard deal with this
beast. My own husband
wasn't as emotionally accessible as Rich has been.even if it
is just to read
his wonderfully encouraging messages. What a guy! Some lady
out there is
going to be very lucky!

Offenses are easily forgiven and can easily be overlooked.
As an ibc person,
the FIGHT is the hard enough. If you find yourself
personally offended,
really, life is too short for that. Please get over it.

With love and experience,

Mindy Beers
