Hi Michelle,
I just had surgery 12/6/06, L-MRM, R-precautionary (I am
BRCA1 positive genetic). The surgeon and Onc both suggested
that I have this done along with removal of my remaining
ovary. I did all 6 rounds of TAC before surgery & still
had 2 of 11 nodes (left side) came back positive for
cancer....so now I'm getting ready to do a second round of
chemo, then radiation......the Dr's are calling it a
"mop up", the surgery was successful, all
cancerous tissue removed, nothing left and both breast
tissues came back with no evidence of cancer (yeah!!!) So
be prepared to have some cancer left, but hope for clean and
clear margins & pathologies. Wish your self well!!!!!
The surgery wasn't so bad, came home next day. But still
have some sensitivity on the incision and some limitations
with picking up and reaching for stuff.....but I feel better
each day.
WISH YOURSELF WELL!!!!!! Wake up everyday thankful for just
being here and tell yourself that no matter how you feel
that you are well and this is not going to stop you from
enjoying each moment, breath and smile. (or tear)
You take care & let us know how your doing!
Having a wonderful day and looking forward to so many
more!!!!
