Patti, don't know if I mentioned it in my e-mail to you or
not, but
epirubicin (like many chemos) can have cumulative side
effects. By that I
mean that the more treatments you have the more you feel the
side effects.
Of course, I was on two other chemos at the same time, but I
noticed the
more I had epi the greater the chance of my counts falling
and the greater
the "weak as water" feeling for a day or two.

I can remember that a few days after my next to last
treatment I would be
out of breath just walking from the bedroom to the bathroom.
After having
shots to bring my counts up it went away quickly and I was
back to feeling
much better. Strange, but I didn't have it as bad with my
last treatment
involving the epirubicin--maybe because I knew it was the
last time and it
helped me mentally and physically! Anyway, the chemo after
surgery only
involved the taxotere and gemzar.

Sorry to be wordy here, but what I'm getting at is that your
little girl may
need you later on to come help her out. I hope not, but she
shouldn't be
afraid to acknowledge that she needs help. All of us who
have been in this
situation in the past, or going through it now, should
gratefully accept any
offers of help when needed. I know it's hard for some of
us--it was for me.
Looking back though, I could not have made it without the
help of family and
friends (and God, of course)!

Birds of a feather flock together,
Melanie Harwell

Rich, I'm right behind you.....my feet are killing me.
Shopped yesterday again, then went out to dinner with our
friend Hal
(Diane was his wife) who is quite lonely these days. We had
a
wonderful Italian dinner.
Am so amazed that at day 4 after the first dose of
Epirubicin Tina
still has no side effects.
I am noticing that late in the evening her breathing changes
and she
can't take a big deep breath.
She told me last night the fluid that accumulates around her
lungs is
coming from the liver.
What amazes me is her appetite. What bothers me is her
weight even
with the appetite. She found out yesterday that in the
pants
department, she has gone from a 14 to a 10 now to an 8.

I still wish I could chain her to my house and just wait on
her, but
I really think that working, staying active, staying focused
on
forward things, has been the saving grace.
Sort of like Lance Armstrong on his bike.....stay positive.
Maybe
one of these days they will focus a little more on the
mental as well
as the physical aspects of cancer in general.

From still 20 degrees in a sad Washington State after
loosing to
Chicago yesterday......NEXT YEAR!

Hi Patti,

There is no wonder why IBC isn't getting Tina down: Just
look at her
Mother!!! Glad I wasn't on that shopping trip with you two,
I'd
dropped out half way through. If I made it that far.

It is good to hear that she is doing well. Go get um
Tina!!!!
