Yes. So in the spirit of answering his question...
I'm doing a series of articles on this. The most recent one
is on
Illustrator h
ttp://toddwarfel.com/archives/wireframing-part-ii-
illustrator-basics/. The first one does a high level
comparison of
tools and explains why I use InDesign and Illustrator over
anything
else http://u
xmatters.com/MT/archives/000161.php.
I use Illustrator for most of my diagramming and a
combination of
InDesign and Illustrator for wireframes.
Illustrator is a drawing tool. I've been using it for years.
And even
though it has a high learning curve, I only use eight tools
in the
entire palette. So, as long as you can use those eight
tools, which
are the same tools in Visio, OmniGraffle, and most other
drawing type
programs, you can use Illustrator. Something I highlight in
the most
recent article. I've even included a symbol library with our
GUI
elements, the basic colour palette, and basic template we
use at
Messagefirst.

In theory, theory and practice are the same.
In practice, they are not.
