Feed readers - recommendations?
user name
2007-04-11 15:36:10
Hey folks -

I've finally decided that it's time to use something other
than My Yahoo
to for RSS feeds. Mobile access is a plus.

Which one do you like? Rojo? Bloglines? Google Reader?
Something else?

Thanks,
- Billie

I am in love with google reader.
I use a lot of differeent machines and having a hosted OPML
is a requirement.

That being said I do have issues with reader, but everything
has
issues. I can't read feeds on the plane (any disconnected
moment).

my bigger beef is that I can't mark something I've read as
unread.
yes, there are other ways of flagging, but this one has
"features"
associated with it, which is why I like it.

I love the "share" feature, too.

Try it for a week. For someonw with close to 100 feeds that
I track,
it is the best I've seen.

Dave

Agreed with David re: Google reader. As a full-fledged app,
I prefer
Vienna or Net Newswire. For mobile, you can always use RSS
Forward to
send RSS feeds directly to your email as a thread and that
way you
won't need any new software.

I tried Google Reader when it first launched and did not
like it.
But I recently tried it again and improvements are fabulous.
In less
than a minute I was seriously thinking about switching back
to it. I
probably will; I've just been too busy/lazy to do it.

Some years ago I used Bloglines, but eventually found a bit
cumbersome and awkward.

Some desktop readers will synchronize with a web-based
reader,
giving you both online and offline access. FeedDemon, for
example,
will synchronize with their newsgator (or whatever their web
version
is called). Bloglines has an API and I know of a few that
will
synchronize with it. However, even though my current reader
supports
this I don't actually use it.
