When I read what Victoria wrote:

>>recently had a class and was stunned when noone in clase did any form of social networking. They weren't even aware of what an RSS feed was and the concept of "Tagging" noone knew. I was stunned because the class is for a Master in Public Administration program, that I am currently working on getting, and it really scared me. Most of the students in the class ....>>

Nervous laughter and nodding is what I did.

I hear stuff like this a lot from clients and potential clients - executive directors and program leaders.

Let's help them with explanations they can relate to. For instance:

RSS is like making your own newspaper or news show. You choose the articles from things that interest you like philanthropy, nonprofit management and youth arts programming. Then a brief chat about their email provider and other RSS readers. You save time by going to one web page because, really, how often do you check websites to get news?

This works about one out of three or four times I suggest it. Not great results, but not bad.

How can I explain tagging? Social networking? How does it add value?
