Organizational Description:
Third Sector New England provides information and services to build
the knowledge, power and effectiveness of nonprofit organizations that
engage people in community and public life. We act also to promote
wider recognition of community-based organizations as the primary
stewards of our core societal values. The ultimate intention of our
work is to create a more just and democratic society.
Job Summary:
The database manager assists with managing the integrity and use of
TSNE's databases. This involves working with the TSNE's Microsoft
Access contact database, the connected Projects Management System, and
the Kintera online constituent management database, as well as the
synchronization of data sources. S/he will also provide support to
programs and staff in the use of the TSNE databases and data.
Essential Job Functions:
Data Maintenance
* Manage the entry of new records, and confirm the accuracy of data in
the database as often as is necessary to maintain up-to-date
information.
* Reduce duplicate records.
* Maintain database links between individuals and organizations.
* Monitor the synchronization of the Kintera and MS Access contact
management databases.
Staff Support
* Produce reports, labels, and tables using query.
* Troubleshoot problems for staff users; refer higher-level support to IS staff.
* Maintain and support groups of individuals and organization with
Kintera and MS Access contact management databases.
Database Development
* Work with staff and IS to further tailor the databases for staff needs.
* Participate in the design of data synchronization and maintenance tools.
* Identify database issues and "bugs" to improve the usability of databases.
Marketing Support
* Attend TSNE's Constituent Communications Working Group meetings, as needed.
* Oversee processing of returned mail from general or mass mailings.
* Develop reports on email and "snail mail" results.
* Develop reports for the purpose of data mining and queries.
Qualifications
* Expert level knowledge of MS Access, data export and import.
* Ability to develop MS Access Databases.
* Familiarity of data standards, software and tools.
* Understanding of relational database concepts.
* Experience in web-based constituent relationship management and marketing.
* Proven project management skills, is preferred.
* Excellent attention to detail.
