I emailed this list to ask everyone in a similar situation what he/she is doing to get ready for the new start and end dates for DST. A few folks responded and based on those responses and my own research this is what I've done so far.

Our telephone/voice mail/unified messaging system has been appropriately adjusted for DST by the vendor as we can't reach it. The Office Manager is unluckily the telecommunications and building manager so I don't have to deal with phones, HVAC, Alarms etc.

This link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/914387 gives the information for handling the Windows 2000 pro/server issue - you either create the registry file and run the script they have provided, which will get the change out to all of these older machines or you run TZedit on each computer, the free downloadable file can be found near the bottom of this dreadful article or you use a 3rd party solution It was easier for me to touch 49 machines rather than make a mess of 49 machines.

All of my XP boxes and my Windows 2003 server were patched through WSUS.

Now all that's left is handling Outlook 2000 on the pc's and our Exchange Server 2003 that runs on the Windows 2003 box and Outlook Web Access. There are patches available - I'm just not sure of the order in which you run them. I've read and searched everything, everywhere and I am still having trouble understanding the rationale behind the choices available or what outcome you should expect based on the choice you make - I did read that one outcome could be having to install another patch on the Exchange Server as it might not "come back" correctly after you install the MS official patch (how nice). So I'm whimping out here and going to bring in the vendor who set up our Exchange server and understands how it fits in our Windows 2000 domain to help here

In the meantime, I've sent an email to all my users of what to do from now until I have these last pieces completed like printing out their calendars, being careful about using the "invite attendees" function for setting up meetings, and making a note of calendar items entered in this time period where the operating systems are patched, but Outlook and Exchange are not. One thing I noticed on my Outlook calendar this morning is that any entry in this in-between time that is marked as a whole day (24 hours) now shows up on the day itself and the next day also - I have the holidays that Outlook adds installed and St Patrick's day is on both March 17th as well as 18th....should be interesting to see what happens to those entries when we get Outlook and Exchange properly patched.

Good luck to all,
