1. What is the overall organizational budget?

2. What is your budget to get this done?

3. How closely does your fiscal department work with your
development
people? How much fundaising information (eg level of detail
etc) should
they have access to?

4. How complex is your fiscal picture? Eg at one extreme
something like
a general operating stream, plus 3 funds, each one covering
a particular
program or project at the other extreme something like 9
different
projects and programs with 26 funding streams and funds,
some of which
help fund more than one program or project.

5. How computer savvy is your staff (You would be
surprised at how any
people STILL use their computers much like glorified
typewriters, never
mind having a clue to what you can accomplish with a
spreadsheet.)

Quickbooks is not a bad product, and their nonprofit version
is better.
FundEZ is still a bit above that though. Raisers Edge is
far more
expensive, complex, but also more capable. If you need
something at
that level, then look at MIP as well. Linking Fiscal with
fundraising
seems great in theory, but it really depends on how closely
they are
really linked in real life. Our controller actually had us
take away
access to the fundraising detail information from fiscal
staff.
