hi,
My team is currently working on a 100% Open Source content management system/db grants tracking system built using AJAX (still a few weeks away from first release), and to add every Web 2.0 bell and whistle we can think of.
Our goal is to give the whole thing away for free. It may just be me, but every client I have worked with that invested their hard cash into a CLOSED CMS has thrown in the towel. The OS movement is just hammering away at the Old'Skoll these days. Yes, grad students do work for free. Lots of them, and heck, they are REALLY , REALLY, REALLY smart.
Our Quest? -- not to match what MSFT has to offer, but to offer 10X the functionality at $0 cost. More to follow... On the other hand we may flop, but at least we are giving it one heck of a try.
