Hello:
Each of three digital download files I bought from an eBay seller
used up all the memory on my computer's Windows SE operating system,
and never opened a PDF file on my desktop. I purchased these based
on my prior experience with PDF file downloads that open instantly
when I click on the link. I later found out the system requirements
were Windows XP or 2000, and therefore let Kinkos try to open the PDF
files.
Kinkos then told me by email that they couldn't open the files in PDF
because they are .exe files not PDF, and they never did open the
files because they are .exe files not PDF. Now the seller wants to
send me a CD for Kinkos to print the files from, but I don't trust
the seller to send the right thing.
This eBay seller also said after sending the following email that she
thought I'd follow up to pay Kinkos for the printed files. However,
her email said she wanted to make arrangements to print the files,
but first she, would like to know the cost and how many pages there
are, not to let (me) her customer know this. I have asked the seller
for a full refund.
Adobe Acrobat Reader users and experts please answer these questions.
Q. Do you know of any Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF files that need to be
opened using a Download Manager (.exe files) to facilitate the
download, so when you try to download them they will be in an .exe
file, not a PDF file?
Q. Do Adobe Acrobat Reader PDF files need help from a .exe file to
facilitate their download?
Q. Aren't all PDF files supposed to open automatically without the
help of any external .exe file command?
Q. Since the seller wants to replace the failed downloads, shouldn't
she know how many pages there are because she examined the files to
verify their quality and authenticity unless she's sending more bad
links?
Q. The seller was speaking of her own request for a cost estimate
and page count, and indicated that she wanted Kinkos to follow up
with her, so doesn't that indicate she didn't have the page count?
Q. Wouldn't you suspect that she has more bad links that are not any
better than the digital download links, instead of ready to print
copies of files where the page count can be clearly seen on the CD
she is sending since she doesn't seem to know the page count?
Q. Can any of you who have Windows XP or 2000 open and print these
files?

Here is the cc of the email the eBay seller sent to Kinkos upon my
request.
To Whom It May Concern,
Please open and download these PDF files for me. They are craft
patterns. There are three of them. They are in a Download Manager
(.exe files) to facilitate the download, so when you try to download
them they will be in an .exe file, not a PDF file (the Download
Manger will open the PDF when it is completely downloaded and
automatically save it to the Desktop).
To download them all you have to do is click on each link and the
download will start. However, if the links are not active in your
email program, you will have to copy each link and paste it into your
web browser (like Internet Explorer) and then the download will
start.
Please let me know if you have any problems or cannot open the files.
Also, please let me know if you have successfully downloaded them
because I would like to make arrangements to print them, but first I
would like to know the cost and how many pages there are.
