RECA (Realizing Every Community Asset) Foundation has been providing Technology Access, Literacy, and Content since 1992. Locally we have recycled over 1000 computers to low income families, 50% Spanish speaking only. We have the Beginning and the Internet Ready that has a 6 month dial up internet account and provide free repair for 2 years. See TCFN.org - Computer Reuse

Access needs to be computers in the home for families to truly develop the skills necessary to move out of poverty.Literacy and being able to maintain the computers is also vital. Those that have never had a computer in their homes, especially low income folks should never buy a brand new one - they will have it broken in a couple of days.

On this group their is online training, but how many of you have thought about the Vital resources a low income person needs to move out of poverty. Take a look at 4People.org - each county has specific resources and tools to help those families succeed. Across the country - counties are being asked to reduce Homelessness by 50% in 10 years. In our area - Benton Franklin Counties in Washington State -using 4People online Resources and Case Management system in 3 years we have reduced our homeless by 56%.
