One of my favorite resources for teaching web stuff to non-techies is Robin Williams' (the author, not the comedian) book "The Non-Designer's Web Design Book." Lots of tips and advice - you should be able to borrow some stuff from there for your group.
Also, check out the World Wide Web Consortium's Quality Assurance Library which has lots of good articles and tutorials regarding web quality and usability. http://www.w3.org/QA/Library/
