Hi folks!
I am trying to help a public radio station with their music
library. They've got a HUGE CD collection to track.
My goals are to; 1) get the library into a database that
includes; a) basic artist, title, etc.; b) all the tracks
their running times; c) the UPC barcode and; 2) create a
system that let's the on-air talent easily create a play
log by just scanning the UPC code and entering the track
number.
What I'm hoping to find is a pre-built (online?) database
that already includes the data for goal #1 so that we can
just go through the library scanning UPC codes and get all
the data imported automatically. This could save thousands
of hours of data entry. I'm sure the data is out there
somewhere, I'm just not sure where to look.
Can anyone out there point me in the right direction.
On a similar subject, I've seen where an lots of CD player
software on an internet connected computer can somehow go
online to automatically get title and track information
(even the case cover artwork). Does anyone know how this
technology works? Can you point me toward more information
on the subject?
Thanks!
