I fully support this effort, and it's important to keep
thinking a few steps down the road, as Michael does here.
An open API is important, and a minimum standard set of
interfaces would be a big step as well. It lays the
groundwork for another big milestone in this effort, which
is software that allows easy, point-and-click access to
these API's, with little custom coding needed.

My worry is that there are many small nonprofit techies at
smaller nonprofits who don't know what an API is, much less
how to interface with it. I hope that these folks aren't
left behind in the effort for open and easily data.

Though we don't make much use of ASP's/Web Services
providers now, I'll certainly do my part to advocate for
open API's when we do.

Thanks,

Ramsey
