Subject: TAG Announces Focus on Online Grantmaking
To: deborah.elizabeth finn.com
The results of last year's Grantmakers Information
Technology Survey
conducted by TAG and the Council on Foundations clearly
indicated that
the number one challenge for technology staff was the issue
of online
grantmaking.
For private foundations, this means how to incorporate an
online
application process into an existing proposal review
process, how to
provide online access to grant information for grantees and
how to
have grantees submit monitoring and financial reports
online. For
community foundations, this also means how to manage access
to fund
information, how to establish an automated grant
recommendation
process and how to accept gifts online.
In response to this need, TAG will focus on online
grantmaking in
2006 in two ways.
First, we will host a one-day meeting about online
grantmaking later
this Spring. I hope to have dates and a location finalized
shortly.
If you are interested in helping to plan this meeting,
please send an
email message to lisa.pool verizon.net. (Note: if
you have already
indicated interest in planning the meeting via the Survey
Monkey
survey, I have you on my list!)
Second, we will write a case study (or two) about a
foundation who has
implemented online grantmaking. Affiliate TAG member Tim
Haight of
SITIA is an experienced case writer and he has graciously
offered to
develop the case study for TAG this year. If you have
implemented
online grantmaking and would like to be the subject of a
case study to
help other foundations figure out online grantmaking, please
send an
email message to lisa.pool verizon.net.
I am excited about these efforts and hope many of you find
the
benefits helpful as you begin to plan for how to address
online
grantmaking in your respective foundations.
