Please allow me to decipher Greg's message for the
less-technical members of the group.
The Microsoft (MS) Knowledge Base (KB) is an online database
of information about Microsoft software. It contains many
articles (including no. 312135) describing products,
outlining bugs and their workarounds, and generally helping
people find the solutions to problems they encounter while
using Microsoft software.
Every article has a unique identifying number and it is
common for techies familiar with the Knowledge Base to refer
to these articles using only that number as shorthand.
The Microsoft Knowledge Base allows one to search the full
text of all articles, constrain the search just to the title
or the article ID. One may also search just the text of
error messages referenced in the
KB.
