(ISF) Methods of backing up CIMS and Raiser's Edge

A client of mine has had some bad experiences with Veritas
Backup Exec, CIMS
and Windows 2000 Small Business Server. Her previous IT
person explained to
her that because Backup Exec used SQL server it destroyed
the W2K SBS
installation and the whole thing had to be reinstalled.
Don't ask me what
it means because when I try probing for more information I
always get the
above explanation which doesn't really make sense to me,
because, the
version of BackupExec that they have (I think 8.5) does not
mention any
version of SQL as a requirement nor have I found any kind of
incompatibility
that would cause an entire server to become corrupt.
Anyway, to avoid any
further problems I would like to ask the group which backup
methods have
been successful in the real world with CIMS and Raiser's
Edge.

They now have two servers, one is W2K SBS and the other is
W2K3 Enterprise
server R2. They may also end up removing the W2K SBS and
installing W2K
Server Standard if that would make things easier.

Suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

Joe
