We have had good luck with several IBM ThinkPads, and some
good buys on
refurbs with long warranties. I got one that was an unused
academic return
and came with a FOUR-year warranty including breakage, for
$1200. Warranty
is a lot more important to me than "reliability,"
which is an average at
best and doesn't help if you're in the wrong part of the
sample.

The Bible says, "Love thy neighbor as thyself."

The Buddha says there is no "self."

So, maybe you are off the hook.

Subject: Laptop advice

Hello all,

This may not be quite the right place to ask this question,
but.... The
motherboard on my Dell laptop died, so I'm now in the market
for a new
laptop. I'd like one that is fairly lightweight (i.e. 5ish
pounds) and is
reliable. It doesn't need all the bells and whistles, but I
do use
Dreamweaver and Adobe sometimes, and I need a wireless
connection.

Any opinions on PCs of this kind, especially with regard to
reliability?
And what about Apple notebooks?

I know I can get some of this info from consumer magazines,
but I trust this
crowd more!

Thanks,

Claudia Castaneda
