See Section 3.2 of RFC 3978, last sentence:
"Each Contributor agrees that any statement in a
Contribution, whether
generated automatically or otherwise, that states or
implies that the
Contribution is confidential or subject to any privilege,
can be
disregarded for all purposes, and will be of no force or
effect."

As I recall, we adopted that formulation because some poor
souls
are hidden behind corporate mail systems that forcibly
attach
boilerplate, and we didn't want to prevent such victims
from
posting.

Even when that boilerplate specifically says that the Email
Operator (the
sponsor) retains all ownership in the mail and its content?
Seems to me that
any formal email policy which is printed in the boilerplate
of the email
trumps the Note-Well rules in the submissions process but
what the hell...
