Joining channels with åäö in name

Hi all!

Just noticed a small problem when I tried to join a channel
called 
#Whiskyhörnan.se on QuakeNet.
I get sent to a chanel with a square instead of the ö and
one channel 
that is epty, not even I am showing.

I guess this is some kind of charset issue and I could
really use your help.
