Thanks to William Cairns I have converted the midlet pascal code located
here:

I have created it as a separate class and integrated it into my existing
game engine. When the game is finished I'll make the full source
available.

Hi, Thanks for the feedback about particle engines. I've had a look at
some functions and understand what is going on now. Unfortunately they
are all based around using OpenGL.My game doesn't use OpenGL so I was
looking to render particles as sprites with various levels of intensity
(using a single colour). I could of course change my engine to render
using OpenGL but I didn't really want to do that right now.

I have a particle engine developed. It does use some of my custom code
(Like for storing the images to be used as particles).
Let me know if you'd like a copy.

I'm writing a two player tank game using SDL. Its viewed from top down
and uses 2D tiles. I want to produce some interesting effects for smoke
and fire when a tank is hit. I could pre-draw some images and cycle
through them but that's not really what I want. Has anyone got any code
for producing random particle effects ? Or can anyone suggests a
possible solution ?
