First of all I am a newbie to Jabber. I have Jabberd2 running with MySQL backend and stumbled into the following issue:
I can get 2 jabber clients talking to each other no problem. I have used PSI, Kopete and GAIM successfully. When these clients connected they requested authorization from each other and from that point worked just fine. Now I am trying to create a web client using JSJaC library (
http://jsjac.jabberstudio.org/). I also have http binding working by using PUNJAB. I am trying to use JSJaC sample client which doesn't request authorization. This prevents these clients from talking to each other.
So the question is: is there a way to disable the authorization process on the jabber server so all clients connected to the server could talk to each other freely?

Authorization is only needed to see Online/Offline status.
They can always
talk freely (provided your server has offline messages
enabled).
There is no way to allow viewing status without
authorization, as that would
be a security hole when s2s interoperability is introduced.
You may be able
to configure your server to auto-authorize any requests it
has jurisdiction
over, though.

Thank you, it's making more sense now. As a follow-up, how can I enable offline messaging? I have looked thru numerous <chain ...></chain> and now I am more confused than before. I have a stock install of jabberd2, wouldn't it have offline messaging enabled out of the box?

Yep, it would.
