Rosters vanishing

Hi.

I've configured a jabberd 1.6.0 server. It works OK almost
all the time,
but, sometimes, the users' roster gets all erased, and I
need to recover
them by restoring database backups (using MySQL, with the
default
database config). It appears to happen when the server is
restarted.

Can anybody help me with this? Sorry about my english, I
speak portuguese.

IF I KNEW, I WOULD REPORT A BUG A LONG TIME AGO.
BUT THE EXPERIENCE SHOWS THAT IT'S THE JABBERD14 + PSI
COMBINATION
CAUSES THIS ON NETWORK OUTAGES.

Could you explain that in greater detail? I am not aware of
a jabberd14 
+ Psi problem and I am using Psi very often myself.

I DON'T REALLY KNOW WHEN AND WHY IT HAPPENS.
WHEN I WAS RUNNING MY SERVER ON JABBERD14 I SEVERAL TIMES
GOT REPORTS,
THAT USER LOST HIS ROSTER. AFTER INVESTIGATING, ONLY ONE
CONNECTED THESE
CASES - THE CLIENT WAS PSI. EVEN I HAD LOST MY ROSTER ONE
TIME WHEN I
WAS USING PSI. BUT I DO NOT KNOW WHEN EXACTLY DID THAT
HAPPEN.
ONCE I SWITCHED TO JABBERD2, THE CASE OF LOST ROSTER NEVER
APPEARED
AGAIN.

For what it's worth: I only lost my roster once with
jabberd1, and
that was because I force killed (kill -9) jabberd because it
was
taking too long to shutdown for my liking.  My .xml file on
the server
was empty.

I managed to get a copy of my roster from an offline Psi and
copy it
to the server.  I had to tweak it a little bit to get the
server to
load it, but I recovered my roster in the end (and breathed
a big sigh
of relief).

Yes ... that could happen in older versions of jabberd14
when you used
the file storage. It could also be caused when your system
ran out of
disk space or file descriptors.

Luckily this had only been a problem of file storage and
even with file
storage it should be fixed.
