I can confirm that -- when we upgraded jabber.linux360.ro to
x86_64, we
had to compile Jabberd2 as an i386 executable in order to
keep it working.
And, yes, sm was the culprit in that it kept crashing and
crashing.
Jabberd2 as i386 on x86_64 works like a charm (seems even a
bit more
stable than what it used to be when the underlying OS and
machine were
i386 too ).
Finally, Jabberd 1.4.3 works smoothly as an x86_64
executable (we are
using it for the gateway transports).
