problem adding roles when storing principals in database

Hi, 
I have the principal information stored in the database.
When i add a role
to an existing user (inserting it directly in the database)
i need to
restart slide server if i want to see the changes. I suppose
there is a
principals cache, isn't it?
How can i reset cache (or delete the user from the cache)
using java code?
