beginner question

Hello,
 
I am a student working on project.
I want to create a portlet (in J2EE <mailto:JEE> )
that displays a Word icon, the idea is that students click
on it, then at the cleint side Word opens with their
personal doc-file. Then they alther it, they click on save
(which saves it to the server side).
 
Is Slide the thing to use for this? Does someone have a link
with a good example/ tutorial?
