Is there an optimal maximum size for a collection?

Hi,

I have a performance problem with jakarta slide. I have a
collection and there are 2530 documents in that collection.
when I tried to open that collection, it opens  20 minutes.
I want to know "Is there an optimal maximum size for a
collection? "
