Associate Scientist II in Biotech , Responsibilities
and Tasks:
1. Conduct pre-designed scientific studies using
laboratory equipment and calculations to include such
tasks as:
a. Randomization, allocation and collection of data
using a data capture system.
b. Make cage cards and all necessary labels using
Microsoft Word and Excel.
c. Collect and process sample collections. (e.g.
blood, urine)
d. Review reports and paperwork prior to study
completion for individual study work as well as review
other’s work.
2. Troubleshoots experiments. Identify and solve
elementary problems in experimental designs.
3. Plan the use of equipment, materials and own time.
4. Make detailed observations and intermediate data
analysis.
5. Maintain complete, accurate, thorough, legible,
error free lab documentation that does not adversely
impact the integrity of the data.
6. Advise supervisor of any deviations and factors
that may affect quality, accuracy and usefulness of
the data.
7. Maintain clean lab equipment and orderly lab area
as required by SOP or lab requirement.
8. Contribute ideas and suggestions to improve
standard laboratory techniques, improve protocols,
processes and equipment.
9. Run an entire routine study from start to finish.
10. Prepare study books and additional paperwork for
study.
11. Technically competent in the following routes of
administration: IM, IP, SQ and oral gavage.
12. Will become technically competent in all routes of
bleeding including retro-orbital and advanced study
work including dosed feed, Draize testing, and IV
injection.
13. Assigned more complicated studies.
14. Some weekend work will be required.
15. Must follow GLP, SOPs and USDA animal welfare act
and maintain accurate records.
16. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Education, Certificates, Licenses Required:
• Bachelors of Science degree in Biology, Chemistry or
Life Sciences with 2 to 4 years Toxicology experience
or
• H.S. Diploma with at least 5 to 7 years of
experience in the field.
• ALAT certification
