Try /dev/sda1 or /dev/sda4 instead of the sda device, and
try leaving out t=

partition type so mount can autodetect it.=0D

You're right, vfat should be right choice.  You could try
msdos, but IIRC t=
hat maps =0D
to the 12 bit floppy fat.  You can get a list of supported
partition types =

in /usr/share/doc - I forget the exact package name, it
might be under moun=
t or =0D
something like unixutils.  (I am at a Windows machine
now.)=0D
