Thread: Buffer usage on CoS

Buffer usage on CoS

Hi,

I need to check the buffer usage associated with a CoS on a
M10i, we are having
drop packets in a CoS, however the actual traffic rate is
less than 40% of the
bandwidth assigned to that CoS (the traffic is VoIP)

So, how can i check the buffer size (in bytes) and the
average buffer usage on
an interface for each CoS?

Thanks in advance,
Matías.

Hi Matias,

I believe there is no way to check actual buffer usage per
queue per interface.
Look for [Tail-dropped packets] under the
show interfaces queue interface-name

If that is increasing for voip queue, that's good indication
buffer
size in your setup is not sufficient to accommodate short
bursts.

Quick question - did you explicitly configure non-zero
buffer size in
the corresponding scheduler for that class?

Regards,
Alexander
