Dutch translation / Nederlandse vertaling?

Hello list,

An acquaintance of mine (a business owner) would perhaps
like to have
K-Meleon installed on his desktop computers if a proper
Dutch version were
available. Is anyone aware of any current effort to
translate K-Meleon
into Dutch?

If no such effort is under way, I would perhaps like to
start one. In that
case, I think I could use some help with the technical
aspects of all
this. I already downloaded K-Meleon1.1xx-YY_locale.7z - now
where do I
start and what do I do?

(forgive me my newbieness here...)

If any work in this direction is already being done I would
like to join
the translators, though mostly as a reviewer in that case.

I must say (perhaps as a warning ) that I
have some ideas about what an
acceptable Dutch translation would have to look like. That
is, I take a
(mostly) purist view towards Dutch spelling, grammar and
style. I look
forward to working with people who use the same approach or
who would like
my help with issues like these:

- Correct spelling, especially with regard to -d, -t and
-dt, kofschip, ij
and ei, no "anglicist" extra spaces and capitals
in compound nouns et
cetera. I see too many hobbyist Dutch translators in open
source projects
mess up with these, unfortunately.

- Business-like, concise style with no abbreviations. NO
cute or original
solutions for hard to translate phrases, consistent use of
honorific "u"
instead of "je" and "jij".

- NO translations for English words that have already been
borrowed into
the Dutch vernacular, for instance: use "browser"
instead of
"bladerprogramma".

... and perhaps a few more things, but surely you can
already see what my
standards are.

I welcome any sort of reply.

Good. However I do have *some* programming skills, given the
right tools
I am probably able to compile a program and such. So some
light
technical stuff is not going to be a problem (I hope).

both English and German.

Yes, I had begun reading there and I also downloaded the DLL
hacking
programs.

I'm not sure if this can even be done on Windows programs (I
am a Linux
user myself), but how about using the "gettext"
method of localisation
with .po files? Very easy to maintain:
