We need a Windows expert to verify this, but I'm fairly sure you are
not supposed to use "REM" to comment out values in the registry. The
use of "REM" was from the bad old days of batch files.

I don't recommend messing with the registry unless you really know
what you are doing and are familiar with backing up and restoring your
registry database. One small mistake in the registry can destroy your
system.
